The REC (Renewable Energy Corporation) is one of the leader companies in the field of photovoltaic industry.
The REC is a Scandinavian company with its registered seat in Norway with its manufacturing in the whole world. The REC has got nearly 3,000 of employees across the world.
Manufacturing of pure silicon is situated in the USA, silicon wafers and silicon cells are being manufactured in Norway and photovoltaic panels in Sweden.
Production of silicon solar cells and photovoltaic panels
The total silicon production was at the level of 6,421 million tons in the year 2008. The silicon wafer production was at the level of 542MW of multi-crystalline and 40MW of mono-crystalline wafers in the year 2008.
The silicon cell production achieved 132MW and the solar photovoltaic cell production was 80MW in the year 2008.
The REC is one of few companies which have been fully integrated in the whole process of manufacture. That is why it has the whole material flow under control, both of quality and costs point of view.
The REC is one of the leaders of silicon manufacturing for the photovoltaic industry (the 3rd position) and of silicon wafer manufacturing (the 2nd position) in the whole world.
